Multi Card / KPI Tile Visualization
Summary Add a native Multi-Card visualization to Displayr that allows users to create a responsive grid of cards from a table or other structured data source. Each card would represent a row or column of data and could display a combination of: Category or item name Primary value/KPI Secondary value or descriptive text Image or icon Accent colour Rank Optional link to another Displayr page or URL Cards should generate dynamically from the underlying data, rather than requiring users to create and position individual card objects. Use case We have a customer building an interactive brand-ranking microsite in Displayr covering 260+ brands across 20 industries. Their landing page needs one card per industry. Each card displays: Industry name Industry average for the selected measure Best-performing brand Number of brands ranked Industry-specific image/icon Link to the corresponding industry page A combo box lets the reader change the measure. The values on all cards then update and the cards automatically re-sort based on the selected measure. The whole card is clickable, allowing the visualization to function as both a data visualization and navigation interface. We can create this using a custom visualization, but Displayr currently has no native visualization that provides this type of multi-card layout. Proposed functionality The visualization would take a table or similar data source and create one card per row or column. Users should ideally be able to configure: Number of cards per row / responsive layout Card title Primary statistic Secondary statistic/text Images or icons Card/accent colours Sorting by a selected statistic Show/hide individual card elements Font, borders, spacing, padding and alignment Card links/actions Hover state Whether the whole card is clickable As with other Displayr visualizations, the cards should update automatically when the underlying data changes because of filters, weights, controls or other calculations. Why this would be useful Card-based layouts are increasingly common in dashboards and interactive reports because they let users quickly scan and compare multiple categories while providing more context than a conventional chart. A native Multi-Card visualization could support use cases including: Industry or category rankings Brand and product comparisons KPI dashboards Market or country summaries Portfolio reporting Survey segment profiles Navigation between dashboard sections Executive summary pages Currently, achieving this type of layout requires either creating many separate objects manually or developing a custom visualization. A native Multi-Card visualization would make these layouts significantly easier for customers to build and maintain without requiring custom code. The closest we can get are several number visualizations which can be expensive on performance.
