Problem Researchers often need to create new categorical variables based on conditions from existing variables (e.g., grouping a numeric variable into bands). Currently, this requires writing conditional JavaScript, such as: if (sumCola < 5) 1; else if (sumCola >= 5 && sumCola <= 10) 2; else if (sumCola > 10) 3; else NaN; This creates a barrier for non-technical users and increases the likelihood of syntax errors. Proposed Feature Introduce a point-and-click interface for creating new categorical variables using logical conditions. What It Should Do: * Allow users to select an existing variable * Define conditions using dropdowns (e.g., <, <=, >, between) * Add multiple condition rows visually * Automatically assign category values and labels * Generate the underlying logic without requiring JavaScript Impact: * Removes reliance on code * Reduces errors *Makes variable creation faster and more accessible for all researchers

If there is a constructed set of binary variables based on a single-response variable and the latter updates to include a new category, this doesn’t automatically get added to the former. The customer would like to this to instead automatically update by recognizing additional codes in the source variable.

Useable comments for each Variable and tagging: right now comments exist I like it but it kind of needs tags too single standard words that allow you to link context across variables - I still think you need comments for humans to use but these should be searchable, and maybe a description section that AI can leverage and fill out SIDE NOTE Not all VARIABLE SPECIFICS NEED TO BE editable like the name but and things can change and reset like a variable name but the invisible unique ids behind the scene should be visible too because names change and if internal unique ids change or don't that could be the center of truth

Q allows users to create a Moving Averages variables using Date/Time. Add a similar option to Displayr.

Create an option to disable the automatic relabeling of variables when combining variables into a variable set so that client can rename them manually. The client claims when they combine variable and they are automatically renamed they can easily lose track of where the combined variable is under Data Sources.

The user would like to be able to copy derived variables crated in one Displayr Document to another Document - skipping the steps of having to re-create the variables again.

The user would like to copy & paste filter variables from one Document to another.

User wishes to upload a map and overwrite the metadata that Displayr created when they uploaded their Excel data set. This would avoid having to manually update labels.
