It’s not currently possible to sort a table on a marginal statistic (such as sorting columns/rows on Average in Statistics - Right or Below) either in a table or as part of any of our visualizations. Adding this feature would enhance our customers' abilities to do more with fewer outputs, simplifying their Q and Displayr projects.

User was using a data file without meta data and had scaled variable sets that had the scales out of order. They had changed the Values in the Value Attributes to be in order in hopes they could then sort by the underlying value to get the scale in order in their table. This would be helpful for users without metadata in their files. Workaround is to relabel the categories with something to sort on and then sort that way.

Take Cola Tracking data, for example. Step 1: Table > Raw Data > Variables Step 2: Select Unique Identifier, Interview Date, Age (doesn’t really matter, the important variable is Interview Date). Step 3: Sort on Interview Date (either ascending or descending) and note that the values are sorted alphabetically. This is unlikely to be the intent of the user when sorted. Feature request is to allow the user to change the variable type to be Date and sort it sensibly.

With R tables, you are able to reorder rows using the column header arrow icons but these aren’t respected when you then reference this table. The request is to have this respected by R references.

The original intention was to select the top 15 rows based on the number of characters and then this turned into randomly selecting 15 rows from a text table. In either case, greater functionality to sort a text table would help here. While they can use the Show Only Top K Rows rule, it doesn’t allow for enough flexibility for identifying the rows to show.

It would be useful for users to be able to sort their text data by the number of characters in normal tables rather have to resort to R tables and custom code.

Specialty tables should allow the selection of rows first before sorting so users can take n values from the input.

A user wants to be able to sort rows by treating numeric labels as numbers. Currently they are treated as alphanumeric text only.
