User states: We really like the idea of the new views feature, we see a lot of potential amongst our clients but it doesn't quite meet the main needs we are seeing asked for/anticipate being desired.
I'll try to keep this presented as challenges to the current setup rather than provide suggested solutions, but please let me know if more specific suggestions on implementation would be helpful.
Having the list be shared amongst all users presents a few challenges:
  • Deletion of a view removes it for all users -“ Users will have a tendency to want to refine the list to just those that they find useful.
  • Addition of a view adds it for all users - With a large user list having access to the same views list this can get unwieldy very quickly.
  • Inability to set/reset the views centrally for users - If a user requires one or more views they deleted to return without impacting others they have created, there is no central way to do this. For new users, having a default starter list would be helpful, without overwhelming them with a large list of those created by peers.
  • (Minor) No ability to "lock" views from being deleted - It could be helpful at times to turn off the ability for certain views to be deleted
It could also be beneficial for users to have these set up as bookmarks that work across pages, and shareable to other users.
