Alternative method to reorder variables in object inspector input fields

Any feature that has the ability to move variables up or down in a small space/field is difficult to use. It's tricky to move the variables up or down, the action is often too fast, and the fields too small. If a new variable is added, it's generally added to the bottom, or hard to position it where you may need it.
For example, I want all the Q10 variables to appear together, but adding a new Q10 variable places it at the bottom of the predictor list in a regression output. Moving it up is really tricky. Is there another way to move variables other than dragging within the window?

Make multi-variable selection controls in object inspector easier to reorder

For tools like the Regression or Maxdiff, in menus where you select multiple variables, if a user wants to reorder the variables, either for aesthetic purposes, or because the order of the variables is important in the analysis, it is hard and jumpy to reorder the variables.
While you can drag and drop the variables to reorder them, the window is small and the list will jump quickly when dragging and dropping. In very large lists of variables, this will be very hard to work with.
A better version of the menu would allow the box to expand or for the dragging process to have a sort of acceleration to it rather than jumping quickly.
